yes, it’s discrimination. What about people who get fat due to medication. People on anti depressants most of the time gain weight. I took one that made me gain 50 pounds the first month. should I be charged extra. What about poor people. People assume that obese people got that way from not exercising and eating junk food all the time. If you are poor, you can’t afford to eat healthy. i can buy hot dogs and lunch meat and TV dinners for a month for what I can buy for 1 week in fruits and veggies. If you are disabled or in bad health, you can’t exercise like you should. I have arthritis..that limits my ability to walk and ride a bike. Where does it stop? Now the govt tells us what we can and cannot eat. It is that way with life insurance though. I recently tried to get life insurance and I was told that with my weight, I was too fat I didn’t qualify and I am only about 50 pounds over where I should be..

it is discrimination if they don’t ALSO monitor penalize people for every OTHER risky behavior.

pot smokers
hard drug users
drinkers
homosexual men
non monogamous people
children who’s parents refuse to vaccinate them
people who don’t keep up with their dental health
pregnant women

No it’s not. The state pays a great deal of money for state employees health insurance which is paid for by taxpayers of the state.

it would be hard to make it stick…especially if someone could prove they have a physical disorder that makes them fat… glad malfunction kind of thing…

well i think its like china maybe… some oriental country penalizes its people base on weight, and waist size. like they weigh inand if they are over thay have a set amount of time to lose it or they get a fine. its really helping with thier diabetics numbers though.

I think it’s a good thing. The more in shape a person is, the less they’ll have to pay for insurance. Makes sense to me.

Obesity is a serious problem that does put people in a higher risk group for medical problems.

Insurance companies charge smokers more for the same reason.

If overweight people have a problem with it, they could always loose weight. That would save them money and add years to their life.
