I don't think it is extremely hazard to your health, however, it is not the best source of heating your food. I also found out recently that when you microwave your food in plastic, (bowls, tv dinners, ect) that it takes the chemical from the plastic and it gets into your food, doesn't sound pleasant does it? Anyway I tried not to microwave with plastic but glass for a while, but I don't have a ton of glass microwavable dishes so I gave up. Besides our family has been using microwaves for close to 30 years and we are all pretty healthy and we don't have cancer or anything like that so unless you are a major health concious person, I think it's ok

ABSOLUTELY NOT! regmcube's answer is correct. There is nothing sinister about microwaves. They are not radioactive. All microwaves do is excite the molecules in foods and make them jiggle and dance about and collide into each other. The water and oil molecules are most affected as they are more free to move about. All this banging about releases heat which in turn heats the food. The energy is electromagnetic wave energy. In older models it was about 27MHz. The newer models are about 2.4GHz. This is the same frequency range as old cordless phones and newer cordless phones (The newest cordless phones are 5.8GHz). The infrared energy of an ordinary electric oven or stove top burner is the same type of electromagnetic energy. Just a different frequency.

Despite some people's belief that microwave energy cooks from the inside out, it does not! That would be a violation of basic laws of physics. This misconception comes from observing things such as a stick of butter melting on the inside before it melts on the outside. It does this because the outside is dryer than the inside. So the outside molecules can't move around as freely as the inside molecules so less heat is released. As microwaves penetrate an object they lose energy just like any other electromagnetic wave. In microwave ovens the energy penetrates from about 1/2 inch to about 1 1/2 inches, depending on the power capability of the oven before it is disapated. The energy from a 500 watt microwave oven penetrates about 1/2. And the energy from a 1,200 watt microwave oven penetrates about 1 1/2.

Microwaves just boil food from the inside out, whereas ovens and rangetops heat with external heat sources.
I microwave many foods, especially fresh vegetables, because they keep their color, cook faster, and it saves energy. My health is fine.

No, it is not bad for your health.

Microwaves work by emitting waves of a specific wavelength (also called microwaves) which are safe and which work by getting absorbed into your food and causing the molecules in your food to rotate, thereby heating them up.

Nothing unhealthy happens--it's a very safe way of heating up your food/water.

The only unhealthy thing that may come from using your microwave is the unhealthy food that you put in it. =)

I was told that it was so I went to the internet and did research which assured me that it was. Microwaves have been banned in Russia sine 1979 because of it's bad effects on the food. I converted to a convection oven, result, muich tastier food and more healthful. I love my counter top convection. Try it, you won't be sorry. Good luck.
