Do you know what country has a health care system almost identical to what Obama is proposing? The Swiss. They live longer and healthier than we do, and yet they spend about half of what we spend, per capita, on health care. I think it’s a great idea, and if it’s done properly it will actually SAVE us money.
Instead of being such an American and only focusing on the small minority of users who may get a bit more than their share, why aren’t you focusing on the potential benefits to everyone else? As a society, this could save us trillions of dollars and improve public health.

Hilllary’s plan is better. Everyone would have coverage and if you couldn’t afford it there would be a sliding scale according to your pay on how you’d pay for it. That means certain people would no longer be able to use the emergency room as a doctors office and our healthcare bills should stop rising so high. I get really ticked off when I have to go to the hospital and worry how the hell I’ll pay my deductible and then someone shows up there with a cold and they don’t have to pay a darn thing.

If this country should have the misfortune of having Nobama in the White House, hang on to your wallets. Socialist can’t fund their welfare programs without massive tax increases. Just look at the history of Democratic control of congress. Big taxes and really big federal spending at the expense of working people. Dems controlled congress for forty years. We continue to pay for their mistakes.

I can’t defend the concept better than Adam did.
It is VERY possible, we have simply chosen not to do it in the past because we have allowed ourselves to be convinced the quality our health care will fall off if the government became involved.
The real truth is that the Government has always been involved. When poor people go to the emergency room, the hospitals bill the government. We pay for it ANYWAY.
Doing it this way just makes it less expensive overall and improves health for all. That is why a republican like Gov. Schwartzenegger pushed for this type of reform in his state.

Oh Canada,how funny are thee.Your universal health care is such a success that many of your people cross the boarder into the selfish US for treatment.While many others pay out of their own pockets for private coverage.Long treatment waiting times,an overtaxed system.We need to pattern ourselves after your system.Lets pay 50% of our salaries in taxes so we can take care of the people who won’t help themselves.

Hey Adam. Japan’s health care has little to do with it’s collective longevity. The secret is their diet and their general lifestyle. In fact, the more western they become, the more western type of diseases such as heart-disease and obesity become prevalent.

Take the money from the rich and the middle class and give it to the government so they can make the government bigger and bigger.
If the government stayed out of peoples lives, we would be a lot better off, Just look at what the government has done for the aged elderly - they gave them Social Security, Medicare and the Veterns Administration, all on the verge of bankrupcy,
Look what the government has done for the poor and the blacks - gave them welfare and affirmative action, both problem projects that didn’t work
Since Obama has proven himself a real diplomat, maybe he’ll start charging the Canadians and extra fee for using our health services, since their government sponsered system is broken.
