Bliss asked:
When you bbq you use lighter fluid and bbq briquets. Does cooking your food this way once a week cause cancer or other health issues? I can’t seem to find any info on this…

Yes, blackened meat contains carcinogens. We used to cook out about 5 times a week, but when I got colon cancer the dr told me about this. So now we only cook out occassionally and I never eat the black parts.

depends on your method of bbq. Propane has not been proven to do so, but charcoal has. It introduces carcinogens by the smoke which over time can play a factor in developing a type of cancer, usually stomach cancer. It is more common in Japan (since they smoke there fish and meat products)

I have heard that cooking on a bbq grill can be one of the MANY causes of cancer. I, personally, am more concerned about where the meat is bought. Is it pumped full of steroids, antibiotics, and hormones? If you are concerned about cancer, limit your red meat consumption, and purchase your meat from a butcher who does not use hormones, antibiotics, or steroids.
