Why is Health Care so important to Americans?

….. asked:
I’m a teenager, and all my parents and the news have been talking about is health care. Is it because Americans are obese, unhealthy, and drink diet sodas and processed foods daily?

I agree that the media is pushing a nonexistent crisis. I have health care and it is good.

I live on diet soda to be healthier, jerk. JERK!
No, seriously, technological advances in the field of medicine have extended the quantity and quality of our lives. I may not support universal health care, but I have no doubt that health care is of great importance.

it is only important to the liberals that will control health care the people or most of them do not want it and want to keep government out of their health care no matter what it is

It’s important to cover yourself if you get in a wreck or come down with a condition, but Obama wants rich people to pay for everyone in the country, even middle class people who should budget to pay for their own health insurance.

It’s because everybody gets sick and needs to go to the doctor. And most people can’t afford that without insurance. Insurance pays the majority of your medical bills, so you can afford it.
So the issue is that many people are uninsured, and they can’t get taken care of. Liberals want to pay for their health care through taxes. Conservatives want to leave it alone, since these people shouldn’t be using tax dollars to support their lazy lifestyles. It’s a very heated issue.
Personally, I agree with the conservatives on this one.

It is much the same as having fire insurance on your house. You would rather not have to use it but should it be necessary it is nice to know you are not going to be living on the streets.

Americans need health care because they suffer for their arrogance towards Allah. Your body is not just yours; it is also Allah’s. You should care for it and maintain it and worship your health as you do Allah and health care will be unnecessary.

health care
Imagine this… Someone is breaking into your house and you call 9/11 and the dispatcher asks you for a credit card for the charges before they can send the police to save you-
Now Imagine that cost to have the police come has tripled in the last 10 years and keeps going up… What are going to do? Not call police and let the robber possibly kill you or call the cops and you and your family go broke…
It’s a lot the same with health care-

No, it’s because our professional propagandists have been constantly telling us what a dire crisis we have in that respect.

No its because people can’t get health insurance at affordable prices and they are going without needed medical care when they lose their jobs or change jobs, or have preexisting conditions. Or just can’t afford the $1360 per month charge for good insurance, sixty percent of bankruptcies are due to medical bills.
Its a convenient target to blame foods and lack of exercise, but obesity is only one part of the problem, obese people may, for instance, harm their knees and need replacements, but so do runners and dancers. They may have diabetes, but so may children and normal sized people, they may have high blood pressure, but not all of them do, nor do thin people avoid it. If you have a body you need insurance. But the company may not want you. Right now there is nothing you can do about that, Obama is looking to provide a way for those people to get coverage, not free, not for the poor, but for the now 47 million whose companies no longer offer it, or the newly unemployed who can’t afford the $740 per month COBRA payment.

I’m assuming that you’re not american. The whole media trip about growing obesity is true to a point but its just a hot button item that draws a lot of attention. Health Care is important now because so many people have lost their jobs and they got their insurance through their companies. They don’t make enough to pay for it on their own and make too much (unemployment checks) to qualify for welfare etc.
