What Is the usual Process For Applying Health Insurance?

How long does it usually take for someone with a clean bill of health? Also, do they do a physical exam?

I’m sending my application in this week to Aetna. How long should I expect to be approved?

Is it most likely that I’ll be approved? Like I said, no health problems, in my twenties.

Aetna has a stricter underwriting (approval) process than most insurers. Expect them to ask some tough questions. They also conduct a very thorough background check, so don’t be surprised if they know more about your health than you think they will!

Most insurance companies do not expect a physical exam. However, if you’ve ever taken medicines for any conditions, i.e. high cholesterol, they may ask for the latest test result numbers.

Approval can take a few days, but usually no more than a few weeks.

It is more difficult to get approved with Aetna than many other companies. I have experienced this first hand. But if you truly have a clean bill of health - you have no pre-existing conditions and are not on any medications - you will likely get approved.

It can be tough to people who are older to get on Aetna insurance, but they are a very good, reputable company, and if approved, you should be pleased with them.

    Best wishes!

You shouldn’t have any problems being approved by Aetna, based on what you’ve said above. Normal underwriting for most companies on a clean case like you seem to be (that is, all health questions answered no, good height/weight, etc.) will usually be less than a week, and sometimes in only a day or two.

Good luck, and have a swell day!
