My husband is considering a health care career in the Navy?

Zoe’s Mom asked:

He doesn’t know how he will ever be able to finish medical school and support us without some kind of help and the Navy sounds like a tempting way to achieve his goal. Free health care, housing and school. It also seems less dangerous than the Army or Marines. Any advice? Has anyone done this. How will it work with our family? Will he live on base with us? How dangerous is it? Any info would be great. Thanks!

The way I read this, he is already in medical school. I suggest you see a recruiter. There may be ways for him to get the Navy to pay for medical school.

He can become a corpsman in the Navy. It is in the medical field and they do pay for schooling. The health care benefits are awesome. It seems less dangerous, but there are possibilities of him being sent to war with the Marines. Right now my husband is in japan and i am pregnant. Since we didn’t get married before he got his orders, i cannot be with him for 2 years. So, since you are married, i believe you can live on base with one another. I am new to this but this is what i can give you from what i have experienced and learned so far.
