I am doing an essay on government funded health care. One thing I want to know, and can’t seem to find, is how much did it cost to start up health care in Canada? If you have sources, please list them! Thank you so much.

Hi, I am the one that started it (with my Uncle Ernie). It cost about $24.55 Canadian, if you don’t count the donuts from Tim Hortons.

Health care in Canada, while federal in scope, is run and administered by each individual Province. As such, there were no overall start up costs….or there were 10 separate start up costs depending upon how you want to slice it.

As far as costs are concerned however, there were no start up costs since the system was paid for through taxes so it’s not like a pot of money was required to be taken from other sources.
