Ex-Pharma Sales Reps Speaks Out - Pharma Not in Business of Health, Healing, Cures, Wellness.
Gwen Olsen spent fifteen years as a pharmaceutical sales rep working for such healthcare giants as Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Abbott Laboratories. She enjoyed a successful, fast-paced career until several conscious-altering experiences began awakening her to the dangers lurking in every American medicine cabinet. Her most poignant lessons, however, came as both victim and survivor of life-threatening adverse drug reactions. After leaving pharmaceutical sales in 2000, Gwen worked in the natural foods industry first as an Account Manager for Nature’s Way, and then as a Regional Sales Manager for Gaia Herbs. She is currently a writer, speaker, and natural health consultant.
The United States health care system is killing Americans at an alarming rate, even though we spend over fifteen percent of the Gross National Product (GNP) on health care. According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, our health care outcomes ranked only fifteenth among twenty-five industrialized nations worldwide. Adverse effects from prescription drugs have become the third-leading killer of Americans. Only heart disease and cancer claim more lives. We trust our doctors to inform us and our government to protect us from medical malfeasance that may put profits ahead of consumer health and safety. But the fine line walked by the FDA between the interests of the pharmaceutical manufacturers and the American public has continually been crossed. The result is the unleashing of an unprecedented number of lethal drugs on the U.S. market!
Gwen Olsen learned firsthand the danger that lurks in every American’s medicine cabinet, working in the pharmaceutical industry. But her most poignant education would come as a victim and, ultimately, as a survivor.

I have suffered from severe depression for quite a while and take fish oil daily and exercise. Fish oil doesn’t change my mood one bit

One proven strong mood elevator, besides lowering your bld.pressure, cholesterol and easing joint pain particularly in people suffering from autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis & Lupus, are Omega 3’s. (found in a GOOD fish oil)U can’t get what u need just from eating fish, since farmed fish is most available, with high levels of mercury & other toxins. The highest concentration of DHA & EPA(look 4 these when buying fish oil products),are in Cod liver oil(flavored in lemon or in mint.

Thank you for the video,
I think that the blame on the big pharma companies, For doctors it is a new Era, Where they can progress and learn more and give more options to their patients, with more alternatives, It is time for doctors to open their eyes and to understand we need a change, There is alot of tension between doctors and patients, we have to change that.
Doctors be AWARE, don’t be AFFRAID, people cheer up those who say the truth and do everything to change that poor reality we are in

What do you do for a living?

Gwen is a very smart and pretty lady. I would buy drugs from her if I were a doctor ;)Anyway, great videos Gwen, thanks for doing your part in exposing this massive scandal.
I’m quite addicted to Klonopin(11 yrs) and scared as hell to quit, I’ve tried before and it was hellacious… extreme anxiety, stuttering, and other things. I want to start the tapering process… want is not really the correct word, I need to taper off this madness and one day stop.
Thanks again Gwen

I was shocked when I went to my Dr and she wrote out all these prescriptions. I asked her, but what’s the cause so I can make changes, and she said, “We don’t look at causes anymore, we just treat the symptoms.”
I blame the rich elite who bought our government and the health organizations. Sick people are easier to control and more profitable. Just look at the rich elite who own shares in the drug biz!

true. pharmaceutical companies just prey on dumb people who want “heal all” pills. hey if they’re dumb enough to buy it so be it. Hippocrates, the father of medicine said Let food be your medicine.

We are so accustomed to taking our doctor’s word that this comes as an excellent warning to be more vigilant.

This should be a wake up call for everyone. The fundamental change that needs to happen is for people to understand that health itself is not being symptom free and having low cholesterol. True Health comes from the inside out. True health is actively promoting 100% function of your body. Your day-to-day lifestyle habits have a tremendous impact on your ability to be healthy. The public must take control of their own health and not place it in the hands of big pharma!

this lady speaks the truth in this video.she’s digging up the dirt about these bunch of bastards.
January 28th, 2009 at 12:50 pm
I’m not anti-medication or anti-doctor. Some medications are just worse than others. In acute care drugs saves lives, in long term symptom management, drugs often lead to an early death.
One of the problems is that as long as the drug industry is making 20 billion a year off antidepressants no one will rush to find a cure for depression.
These drugs are looked at as a solution when in fact they don’t solve the problem; in the mean time, Pharma makes billions w/out incentive to research cures.
January 29th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
I think the amphetamine drugs can help people concentrate and improve athletic performance, at least temporary.
Anti-seizure medications have their place.
However, antidepressants are a total scam and probably the largest scam in the last 50 years.
Anxioletics do inhibit the stress response well but are highly addictive.
IMO, Antipsychotics should be banned. They cause early death, permanent neurological damage and movement disorder.
None of these drugs cure anything.
January 30th, 2009 at 5:44 am
That’s something I already knew that some of the drugs can cause rapid weight gain leading to obesity and other problems that go along with that.. But what you’re saying is no good can come from taking these drugs, i dont agree with that
January 30th, 2009 at 4:33 pm
Google, “mentally ill die 25 years”
January 31st, 2009 at 11:27 am
When you say that antidepressants are no more effective than sugar pills, does the same hold true for mood stabilizers and antipsychotics. What other alternatives do people with extreme depression(which can causes pyshosis) have. These people truly benefits from drugs, don’t you agree?
February 2nd, 2009 at 12:28 am
Not really no. I think there are better alternatives.
The truth is when you combine all the antidepressant clinical trials into a meta-analysis, they are no more effective than sugar pills except in the most extreme classes of depression, and in those cases they are still only slightly more effective than placebo.
Of course after a person is addicted to them, they will need to take them to function or they will experience withdrawal symptoms bu that’s an artificial dependency.
February 3rd, 2009 at 7:50 pm
Don’t you agree that some people need anti-depressants to function.?
February 6th, 2009 at 5:54 pm
the US is run by the insurance and the pharmaceutical industries. They are killing all of us. Period. They are getting rich from our suffering!
February 8th, 2009 at 3:06 am
Good information. I also recommend Michael Moore’s movie, “Sicko” (info like Gwen Olsen’s book).
February 10th, 2009 at 11:06 am
do people actually think this lady is lieing.I don,t think so.what she,s saying is the truth.alot of doctors today are nothing more than a bunch of legal drug pushers.and big pharma is behind it all.some of the terrible side effects from these drugs are horrible.they don,t give a hell about peoples health.theres to much money exchanged between these bastards, governments, big pharma.
