I can’t be 100% certain, but Ronald Reagan did a commercial in the 50’s talking about government run health care, and the adverse effect it would have in our overall well being as a country, he said, doctor’s would be paid on a flat rate, not difference from a cardiologist to a podiatrist, thats bad news for doctors who are specialized in their fields, and I think the nursing trades will have opportunities in them yet, but aspects of the job may change some what under a government run system, I’m not sure if thats a good thing or not.

if nursing is what you want to do then do it. It will always be in demand. With this health care crap in play, they might cut pay. Sure more people, but it’s basically medicaid for all. Medicare pays like ****. Therefore hospitals make less. They can’t pay too little though or the hospitals will lose nurses. But keep in mind try to work for a private hospital. They can accept or decline any insurance they want. So besides in the er where you have to stabilize any and all patients, regardless of pay, the private hospitals and md offices will possibly/probably refuse or limit the number of patients with this government insurance.

Don’t change what you want to do or become because of what might happen. Who knows, obama may be voted out next election and the new president might veto this health care plan. And things will be back to normal. If you want to be a nurse, then do it. If you change to do something else because of this you might not be as happy.

Forget informing your doctor that you believe that this patient reacted funny to this or that, the patient will get EXACTLY what the gov TELLS the doctor the patient will get.

…OK, so, new government health insurance comes into play, more people have health insurance. When more people have health insurance, that means more people are going to the hospital, which means more people need to be hired to deal with all these people. How exactly will this lead to reduced job opportunities or cuts in pay? If anything, it will lead to more job opportunities and increases in pay just to keep the people they have.

You’ve got to figure that jobs like nursing won’t be as in demand in the next 3-5 years because so many schools are pushing out nursing program graduates right now because currently it is a high-demand job.

How do you think it will reduce job opportunities? there will be 30 million more patients to care for. I don’t get you way of thinking.
