My lab is 4, and is going to be fixed. Should she have pups first to prevent health issues?

Ms.Colbert asked:
She is a labrador retriever, and is going to be fixed. I know, we shouldn’t of wait so long to get her fixed, but we had planed to breed her, but after we found out the number of dogs in a shelter, we didn’t want to bring more into the world. But I recently heard that if she doesn’t have pups now she may have health issues after she is fixed. Please Help!

Not true! I don’t know where this rumor started and why people think this. Getting your dog fixed before they have puppies is perfectly fine. They won’t have any problems and it will also prevent a lot of diseases later in life. Get it done!
