Nowadays the United States of America faces the problem of a huge quantity of legal and illegal Mexican immigrants. Most of them are looking for the jobs, and the opportunities offered by the U.S. can’t be compared with those Mexicans had in their motherland. Also the celeries in the States are much higher. That is why Mexican immigrants are glad to get any job, it would anyway seem to be profitable for them. And very often employers do not provide workers with regarded health safety. What is even worth some pregnant women cannot get maternity leaves.
Many women are working in garment manufacturing. Those pregnant women who work in electronic assembly plants unfortunately very often give births to the low-weight babies. And that is not the worst consequence. Babies born by women working in southern Texas have no brains. It’s horrible!
The anencephaly birth defect begins at the early stage of fetal development. The brain fails to develop. In this case the baby is usually either stillborn or dies at once after birth. The reasons for the terrible changes in mothers’ organisms leading to such tragedies are: poor nutrition, the use of heavy pesticides and toxic chemicals. We cannot object the importance and influence to our life of the environment.
The health issue is not only a female worry. Males suffer from the bad working conditions as well. The illnesses of one of five workers are caused by them. When people work in uncomfortable position it may lead to the repetitive stress injury. Very often machinery is operated when the protective equipment is not used; as a consequence some workers lose limbs.
