Are there lasting health issues with obesity even after the fat is lost?

If someone was Obese (say 100lbs overweight) and they lost all excess fat, and managed to live healthily for the rest of their lives- what kind of lingering health issues would they face?

Unless you’ve had a heart attack/heart disease or developed diabetes generally nothing worse than loose or sagging skin and stretch marks. If you have had a heart attack however, the damage is permanent, but that still doesn’t mean you can’t lead a normal fulfilling life.

they might still be at risk for diebettes (sp?) and have joint problems in the knees from all the weight they had.

The healthiest thing you can do is lose the weight. You will have eliminated almost all of the major health issues one was facing with the weight. High blood pressure (hypertension), diabetes, risk of stroke, heart attack, edema (swelling), inflammation, kidney failure……There is always the possibilty that some of these problems will not completely resolve themselves (especially depending on how the weight is lost), but the risks factors will be greatly diminished. The weight is the issue, the solution is not
    Wishing you good health.

Well, you could still have affected your liver, kidney’s and your heart, because you lose the weigh, that does not mean that you did not affect other parts of your body; and any prolonged obesity; could have damaged a lot of your bodies ability to repair it self.
The body is a delicate instrument and some of the things we do to it may never be repaired. The issues that you may face could be like diabetes, cancer, eye problems, enlarged breast, uterus wall being thin and many other things could be wrong to mention a few, I hope this helps you some.
