Is the highly efficient breakdown of sugars in the body concern for any health issues?

I met someone who says they can drink a quart of whiskey and not get drunk. He also loves very sugary foods, and doesn’t think they taste oversweetened. He is very thin and almost anorexious looking. Is there a medical terminology for this ability, and can it lead to health issues later in life?

Alcohol metabolism is different from sugar or glucose metabolism. Also taste has nothing to do with what happens in the liver
Alcohol is broken down by the enzyme dehydrogenase.
Glucose is converted into glycogen through Glycogenesis which is controlled by insulin.
