Staying Healthy: Magnet Maintenance

David Marlow asked:

e one of the lucky Americans that doesn’t have a physical injury that gives you pain on a daily basis, congratulations! Now that you are completely healthy, you must strive to maintain your health and live disease-free. You can accomplish this high quality of life with proper diet, exercise and health supplements. One such supplemental program is magnet therapy.

A popular perception of magnet therapy is that you have to be sick or injured to use the magnets for benefit. Believe it or not, you can use many other magnetic products that will provide an extra preventative health measure against negative health consequences.

You spend about a third of your life in bed: sleeping, reading, watching T.V. and relaxing with family. A great way to take advantage of all this bed time is to use magnets in bed! You can begin your bed time health program with a magnetic mattress pad and magnetic pillows that can provide overall body recharging and healing. Using these products differs from the more specific products (the metal bracelet, braces) by giving total body magnetic therapy every single night.

Do you sometimes suffer from sinus or stress headaches? There’s even a magnetic solution to this problem! Using a magnetic eye mask (similar to the black eye masks you can use to sleep) will provide arterial and venous relaxation which will alleviate the pain of your headaches and sinus pressure.

While you spend a third of your life in bed, the other two-thirds is spent on your feet. Magnetic insoles can help minimize the pain the long days at work by keeping your tendons and ligaments stretched and relaxed throughout the day. Magnetic insoles also have a very centering effect on your mental focus and clarity, since the magnetic force of the Earth directly contacts your feet.

You can even share the love of magnets with your pets. Pet products that will help your older dogs and cats stay healthy into old age when arthritis becomes a problem. Magnets for your pets can also cut down on cancer and heart problems in older dogs.

Finally, before getting started with your magnetic health maintenance program, you should do your homework. Be certain that the company that provides you with your magnet products certifies the quality of its magnets and purity of the metals used in your magnets. Some online magnet therapy providers will give you very cheap impure magnets. These do not have any health benefits whatsoever! Pure metal magnets are the only way to get assured health benefits.

Health with magnets is a practical and reasonably priced way to maintain your physical well being. Why not start today?

How to Stay Healthy

Nammy Mike asked:

People today want to be healthy in order to avoid going to the hospital and having to use the health care services. They know that they will have to pay hard earned cash and sometimes they do not have the resources to pay the bill. Also, the better the hospital facilities, the more expensive it is likely to be. So it really is a good idea to make a special effort to look after your health and therefore reduce the number of times that you will need to consult a doctor.

So how can we keep ourselves healthy? We can start by making sure that we always eat healthfully. Of course a lot of people would rather eat in fast food chains than prepare themselves a home cooked meal, arguing that they do not have enough time to cook for themselves. However, it does not actually require a great deal of time and effort to prepare a healthy meal, and there are loads of simple and easy recipes available on the internet, and on TV cooking shows.

Another very important aspect of staying healthy is making sure that you get regular exercise. Exercise can be broken up broadly into cardiovascular exercise, and weight training. Weight training helps to keep your bones and muscles strong, and cardiovascular exercise gives your heart a bit of a workout. Doing weight training does not necessarily mean joining an expensive gym, in fact you can train perfectly well in your own home with a set of weights. Weights such as dumb bells are relatively inexpensive to buy, and once you have them they will last you a lifetime. As for the cardiovascular exercise, jogging, walking and aerobics are good for this. Also, simple things like playing games outdoors with your children will give you a fair bit of exercise, for example, an energetic ball game will give you a much needed cardio workout, which many adults fail to do regularly.

If you are eating a balanced diet, you will most likely not need any food supplements, such as vitamins, but if you feel that you may be lacking in some vitamin or mineral, consult with a doctor or nutritionist about whether you should take any supplements, and which ones would be best for you.

By following a healthy diet and getting plenty of exercise you will most likely be able to keep yourself in tip-top condition, helping your body to have a stronger immune system, and allowing you to live a more carefree life.

Most people do not like the idea of being in hospital, which is why they value their health, and aim to live a longer life.

How To Help Your Teenagers Stay Healthy: Physical Health

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Adrian Adams asked:

Teenagers have different health needs than children and adults, but they are not always aware of what makes a good health decision. The issue is further complicated by changing moods and temperaments, which could leave your steak-loving teen declaring they are now a vegetarian at any time. Fortunately, parents can take steps to help their teen stay healthy.

Physical Health

The physical health needs of a teenager are different from both younger children and adults. Between physical changes, hormonal changes, and lifestyle changes, teenagers encounter a variety of influences that have bearing on their physical health. The following can help you ensure that your teen stays physically healthy:

Discuss sexual health. Granted, this is a difficult topic for any parent to discuss with their child, but it is of vital importance. According to statistics, sexually active teens are more likely to drop out of school, as well as being more likely to use drugs and alcohol. They also face the possibility of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, some of which are treatable but not curable. Discuss abstinence, condom and birth control use, and sexually transmitted diseases with your teen. Don’t leave it to the health teacher to explain things or you run the risk of your teen getting all of their knowledge from their friends.

Help with food choices. Most teens do not get enough calcium or iron, but they get too much fat and sugar. Their food choices not only affect them now, but they can lead to high blood pressure, diabetes, anemia and osteoporosis later. Make sure you have healthy food choices, like fruit for snacks, available in the home. While talking to them about future risks can help them choose wisely, you will get more results if you show them how healthy choices will help them now. For example, point out that a healthy diet and plenty of water will help them have clearer skin.

Give them vitamins. Sometimes, teens simply have less-than-ideal diets. Make sure you keep a good multi-vitamin, preferably one with calcium, available for your teen. While it is a good idea to suggest or encourage taking vitamins, remember that pushing the issue will only cause your teen to refuse.

Encourage exercise. Teens need more physical activity than pushing buttons on a cell phone. Encourage your teen to be physically active. For some, the easiest way to ensure exercise is to allow them to participate in team sports. Another method of getting your teen moving is to have family activities, like volleyball, basketball, or bicycling.

The physical health of your teen influences their physical health as an adult, so it is important that you help them maintain their physical health. Remember that one of the best ways of helping your teen stay physically healthy is to set a good example with your own choices.

How To Reduce Mold And Stay Healthy

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Jim Corkern asked:

Reducing the amount of mold growth in your home usually starts with removing the existing growth from the property.

his growth is typically located in the moist areas of your home like the kitchen and bathroom, but what if you do not already have mold in the house and you want to prevent it? There are a few different ways that you can do this, but one of the most helpful is the HEPA filter.

HEPA filters are specifically designed to remove particles from the air that we breathe indoors down 0.03 microns in size. Believe it or not, this means that it removes everything that is down to one third the width of a person’s hair.

Dust mites, mold spores, hair, pet dander, pollen, and just about anything else that you can think of gets removed by these filters, so you can imagine the help it must bring to people with respiratory conditions like emphysema, asthma, and allergies.

This is a great addition to the fact that it takes the mold spores out of the house before they have a chance to land on anything wet and start growing.

Vacuum cleaners that have HEPA filters are the only kind that should really be used in your home, since other types of vacuums may extract all of these particles from your carpet’s pile, but toss them right back into the air that you breathe. In reality, you might as well not have vacuumed at all, since it will just settle back down on the carpet.

If you decide to purchase an air purification system for your home, you should only get one that has a HEPA filter, since the other types simply do not work as well. This is the best kind of system that you can get, as long as you get one that can handle the square footage of your home.

Air purification systems are often used by more expensive businesses who have employees that spend a lot of time indoors in a particular space, since the air needs to be circulated and kept from being stale, but at the same time needs to be clean of particle debris that can cause illness.

The less employees are sick, the less sick days they take, and the less insurance is claimed. You may not work in a building like this, but it is a fact that people spend more time indoors these days and to stay healthy, breathing the cleanest air possible is a must.

Stanislav Karpunin asked:

There are 5 simple things you can do, to stay healthy.

1. Avoid smoking and smokers

2. Eat right and keep your BMI (Body Mass Index) at 18,5 - 24,8

3. Try to avoid drinking alcohol

4. Exercise daily

5. Sleep right

1. Avoid smoking and smokers

Dangers of smoking.

If you smoke, you should quit, smoking harms you and everyone around you.

Did you know?

- Cigarette smokers have a high risk of heart attack.

- Cigarette smokes have an extremely high risk of lung cancer.

- Each year over 300,000 Americans die from lung cancer, caused by smoking.

- 75% of deaths caused by Emphysema and Bronchitis are directly linked to smoking.

If you want to stay healthy, you’ll have to quit smoking and avoid smokers, because “Passive Smoking” can be as harmful, as “Active Smoking”.

2. Eat right and Keep your BMI (Body Mass Index) at 18,5 - 24,8

How to Eat Right?

As I’ve mentioned in my previous article: “Diet: How to really make your Diet work for you?” , your body needs a proper Balanced Nutrition Diet, with a proper daily amount of: vitamins, minerals, proteins and carbohydrates.

What can a proper Balanced Nutrition do for you?

- Offer effective Weight-Management solution

- Reduce fat and increase your body tone

- Prevent and decrease signs of aging

- Strengthen cardiovascular and immune systems

- Regulate levels of sugar and insulin

- Help regulate cholesterol level

- Improve your memory and clarity of mind

What is the BMI and how the knowledge of it, can help you to improve your health?

Knowing your BMI, you can tell whether your weight complies with the standard or you have extra weight (or your weight is insufficient).

The BMI is directly related to the health risk; as the BMI increases, the risk also rises.

That is why it is so important to know your Body Mass Index and keep it safe (18,5 - 24,8)

Body Mass Index Formulas:

BMI formula (Metric): BMI = ( Weight in Kilograms / ( Height in Meters ) x ( Height in Meters ))

BMI formula (English): BMI = ( Weight in Pounds / ( Height in inches ) x ( Height in inches )) x 703

3. Try to avoid drinking Alcohol.

So, why is it so important to avoid Alcohol, in order to improve your health?

Alcohol has many side effects:

- heart and central nervous system damage

- stomach ailments

- liver damage

- blackouts

- a high risk of alcoholism

e.t.c.

So, if you are serious about living a healthy lifestyle - avoid alcohol at all costs.

4. Exercise Daily.

Exercising is very important for human health and has proven to be a good cure for many well-known deceases.

How much exercising is enough?

In order to be healthy, you need at least 10 -15 minutes a day of exercising.

Also, you could combine your average daily activities with exercising, to save time.

These, are just few examples of what you can do:

- Walking at least 5000 steps a day

- Walking up stairs instead of using elevators.

- Do some running instead of walking.

e.t.c.

5. Sleep Right.

A good night sleep is very important, without it, all of the things I have mentioned above, would not work.

How To Stay Healthy and Beautiful

Paul Hata asked:

Health is wealth. By being physically fit, it can make a person look lean both inside and out. There is a lot a person can do such jogging or walking in the morning, playing basketball or any other sport with friends but if a person wants to have muscles and look lean, the best thing to do will be to sign up and workout in a gym. Just like taking any medicine, one should first consult the doctor before undergoing any form of exercise.

Physical exercise is beneficial because it helps maintain and improve ones health from a variety of diseases and premature death. It also makes a person feel happier and increases ones self esteem preventing one from falling into depression or anxiety. It has also shown to make a person with an active lifestyle live longer than a person who doesn’t.

The best exercise plan should have cardiovascular and weight training exercises. This helps burn calories and increase the muscle to fat ratio that will increase ones metabolism and make one either gain or lose weight.

A person who has never worked out before should do it gradually. Doing it too much for the first time can make one pull a muscle or have an injury making it worse. Endurance will never be built in a day and doing it repeatedly will surely be good to the person.

Focusing on certain portion in the body can help make it improve. A good example is going to the gym and doing a workout more often in a specific area such as the abs can give one a chest pack.

But beauty is not only about having muscles which is what people can see. It is also about enhancing the beauty within.

Here are some things one can do everyday to stay healthy and beautiful :

1.Read Books

Reading books and other reading material more often keeps the mind sharp just like working out keeps the body in shape.

2.Be Acitive

Work no matter what kind it is produces stress. One can reduce this by taking the time out to do something special like lying in a hot tub, shopping or watching a movie. Studies have shown it is reliever and helps one from looking haggardly.

3.Protect Your Skin

Pollution is something people cannot control given the size of the problem. When one goes out, it is best to put some form of protection such as beauty products that contain antioxidants that protect the skin from damage. There are also other beauty products available and choosing the right one with the help of a dermatologist can help the person.

4.Stop Smoking and Drinking

Another way to stay healthy is to give up some vices. Most people smoke and drink. Smoking has been proven to cause lung cancer and other diseases as well complications for women giving birth. Excessive drinking has also shown to do the same.

5.Avoid Second Hand Smoke

For people who don’t smoke, it is best to stay away from people who do since studies have shown that nonsmokers are also at risk of developing cancer due to secondary smoke inhalation.

6.Stay Positive

Lastly, it is best to always start the day with a positive outlook. Just as studies have shown that exercise makes a person feel happier, smiling produces the same effect. A smile can do a lot and it is contagious in a positive sense. It brightens the day of not only one but others as well.

Your Guide to Staying Healthy This Winter

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Andrew Mitchell asked:

The days are getting darker, autumn’s colour is slowly giving way to a drab landscape and no matter were you go, the sound of coughs and sniffles always seems to follow you. This can only mean one thing: winter is on the way.

Winter comes with all sorts of unpleasant surprises, which tend to have a negative impact on your physical, as well as psychological wellbeing. In order to keep you healthy and happy this winter, we have combed the world for some of the best tips and brought them together. Everyone has a different approach on how to stay healthy, but just in case your local witch-doctor’s remedy is faulty, let’s look at this year’s words of wisdom:

Your nutritionist says: Throw your Atkins low-carb diets out the window - carbs are key! Your body needs many carbohydrates to produce those extra energy reserves you need to keep warm during winter. Don’t go overboard of course -  the key to optimum health is to eat everything in moderation. It is all about the quality of the food (a good balance of whole foods, protein, vegetables, and starch), eaten in the proper quantities, which gives you the body you always wanted.

Your GP says: Build up your defences in as many ways as you can. One of the ways you can do this is by getting the flu jab. Modern medicine is a wonderful way of tacking long-existing illnesses. Other ways to boost your immune system are to take vitamin tablets and to get plenty of rest. A few extra hours of sleep a night will also increase your chances of staying healthy, doing miracles for your mind as well as your body. Also get some extra nutrients in addition to your daily meals, such as Zinc, Iron, and Vitamin C, will help strengthen your defences against the inevitable flues and sniffles that come knocking at your door at this time of year.

Your Osteopath says: Acupressure and acupuncture are well-used ancient practices which will enhance your sense of well being. They help spread and balance the energy within your body so you feel more centred and revitalised. A good deep-tissue massage can also achieve this sense of balance. By loosening up your stiff joints and sore muscles, a massage stimulates blood flow which enables you to feel fresh and more energetic. In order to treat external illness, we have to start by tackling the disease from within - only then can we treat the problem, not just the symptoms.

Your Psychologist says: Many of my clients suffer from seasonal depression. This is primarily caused by a lack of sunlight during the winter months - you won’t believe the positive impact light has on your mood, as well as your body. Go on a vacation this winter, to a place where you can get plenty of sunlight, exercise, and peace. The French Alps or Spain are excellent destinations.

These expert perspectives should be enough to keep you healthy in every possible way this winter season: physically, mentally, and emotionally. So beat down the problem before it gets you down - eat that well-balanced meal, take some vitamin pills, get a deep-tissue massage and plan that holiday for mid-January.  We all have our own ways of ploughing through another long winter, but hopefully, armed with these bits of advice, you are well on your way to emerging from that bitter cold unscathed, whole, and happy.

Staying Healthy Is Vital But Simple

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Kurt Naulaerts asked:

This may surprise you. But it is not difficult to take care of your health. No! It’s not. The answer is to be found in simple things. But… staying healthy is a daily exercise.

There is no reason why you should not try to eat healthy. You have to learn to eat properly so that you can get your body in the shape that you want it to be. You will find that when you eat well, you will have more energy and feel more able to take on new things.

You can grow your own healthy food in your own garden. There are many people who have a garden in their back yard. If you want to have your own healthy foods like fruits and vegetables, you can plant them in the summer so that you have them for all year round. This is a good way to save money on these sometimes-expensive foods as well.

Having a good breakfast in the morning is important. This is a good way to eat healthy. You should try to stick to the healthy foods in the morning. This would include things like toast, eggs, fruit, cereal and oatmeal. These items will give you the kick that you need to have a great day ahead.

Drinking water is a part of eating healthy. You have to have the right amount of water in your body so that you can be hydrated and keep your organs healthy inside. The normal person should have at least three glasses of water a day so that they are keeping a good healthy diet and getting the nourishment that they need to live better.

Many times tap water in your home is not suitable for drinking. Water is a necessity and a very important part of healthy eating. If you want to drink water you can always buy bottled. This is going to taste better and make you feel good at the same time. This is a good way to maintain your healthy eating habits and keep your body weight down at the same time.

Eating at sporting events is also another way to get out of your healthy eating habits. You will find that there are many things that are not good for you. The hot dogs, the hamburgers and the candy are such a temptation. You will really have to use your willpower and try to stay away from the things that are bad for you. You can always take some food with you that are better for you and healthier at the same time.

Being informed about what you are eating is important. You need to watch your labels and make sure that you know what you are putting in your mouth. The one thing that you can do for yourself is to check out what is in your food. This will help you better understand the things that are good for you and the things that are bad for you.

And there you have it! Doing some simple things every single day will keep you in a healthy condition.
